Ramayan Actor Arun Govil Aka The OG Lord Ram REVEALS How He Was REJECTED For The Role Initially

Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in the television series Ramayan, has said that he wasn't the character's first choice. Arun said in a recent interview that Ramanand Sagar, the director of Ramayan, accepted his audition but turned him down. Ultimately, he was chosen for the position. Arun claimed that the role of Lord Ram had a profound effect on his thinking.

Ramanand Sagar is the creator, author, and director of Ramayan. The first Doordarshan airing of the 78-episode drama took place from 1987 to 1988. When the show was rebroadcast during the Covid-19 epidemic, it greatly increased in popularity. On Monday, July 3, Ramayan will return to television.

When asked about his acting experience prior to Ramayan, Arun stated, "I began acting in 1977 with Rajshri Pictures and with Sagar Saheb. I also worked in Anand Sagar's Baadal and Vikram Aur Betaal. It was only then that I learned that Sagar Saheb was making Ramayan. As a result, I approached him and expressed my desire to play the role of Lord Ram. I was making a lot of commercial pictures at the time, and working in mythology was not a very common thing. Don't do it, my friends and relatives urged me; it won't be healthy for you.

I gave him (Ramanand Sagar) an audition, and he turned me down. I was requested to play the parts of Bharat and Lakshman by his sons Prem Sagar, Moti Sagar, and Anand Sagar, but I declined because I wanted to play the part of Lord Ram. Later, they chose another actor for the part. But after a few days, the show's producers phoned him to discuss the part, and he finally had the chance to take part in the mythical show.

Arun played Lord Ram, Deepika Chikhalia played Sita, and Sunil Lahri played Lakshman in Ramayan. Hanuman was played by Dara Singh, and Ravana was played by Arvind Trivedi. The audience responded overwhelmingly to the show. Arun became incredibly well-known for his depiction of Lord Ram. Arun is now doing a theatrical production called Suno Shri Ram Kahani in which he tells the Ramayan narrative. In addition to that, he will appear in ‘OMG2’.
