Atlee, one of the major filmmakers in Indian cinema, is a familiar name to moviegoers. Especially those in Tamil films who are familiar with Atlee. Due to similarities in his works, the filmmaker has been accused of plagiarism on many occasions.
Now, the filmmaker has spoken up about how he responds to this long-standing criticism, as well as how certain people always attempt to knock him down and expect him to fail.

Atlee films have always been the target of criticism and charges of blatant plagiarism from other films. Raja Rani, his directorial debut in 2013, was compared to a classic film like ‘Mouna Ragam’, helmed by Mani Ratnam. The charges levelled against him only began with that, which eventually became the pattern in all of his films.
His second film, ‘Their’, was criticised for being a mash-up of numerous previous Tamil films, which was also the primary critique in ‘Mersal’ and ‘Bigil’. Even Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Jawan’ had to deal with this.
Atlee reacted to these allegations in a YouTube interview with Indian broadcaster Gobinath. "When I directed Raja Rani, I wanted to do something about relationship breakdowns. But there was already a classic."
"However, there isn't a single story that hasn't been done yet," he continued. “I settle down and concentrate my efforts on my scripts. If someone gives me a comment in two seconds comparing my film to others, I will not believe that all of my labour and hard work has been duplicated."
In response to this, Atlee stated, "A mob always wants to attack me. They didn't say anything about my last picture because it was a success. It has also amassed funds."
He continued, “So, what's the only way to beat me? Often, such criticism comes only from these people. The reason is the thought that 'he should not win'. Do you think Rajini sir, Vijay sir, and Ajith sir don't have this problem? We have to fight and move forward. Will Shahrukh sir call me without knowing all this?”
‘Jawan’, directed by Atlee and featuring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, was a box office success. The narrative of the film was based around the story of a jail warden striving to purge the world of societal injustices while simultaneously pursuing his own personal retribution.

Furthermore, Atlee is now taking a break from films to spend time with his infant and is rumoured to be working on a new project. Although nothing has been verified, Atlee has stated that both Thalapathy Vijay and Shah Rukh Khan are interested in collaborating on a film and have faith in his ability to carry it off. It has sparked the conjecture that it will be his next picture.
