Atlee revealed that he received the first call from Shah Rukh Khan when he was shooting for the Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Bigil'. Khan told him, "Let's do a film Atlee. I need an Atlee film. So, what is an Atlee film? He said, "Which has everything."
Atlee was surprised to hear from a national superstar to say that his film has everything. He then realized that he had to give Khan something. Khan told him that he had wanted to be an action hero since the start of his career, but had been stuck in romantic roles. He wanted to do a clear action film.
Atlee also revealed the story behind his viral IPL photo with Shah Rukh Khan. He said that they started the film in 2019 when Khan came to Chennai. They had a brief in his office, and while Khan was leaving, Atlee said bye to him. Khan was heading to the IPL and asked Atlee to join him. Atlee was hesitant because he didn't want the news or photo to get out, but Khan told him, "Let the world know that we are doing a film."
Atlee said that Khan gave him a big responsibility, and he had to give him a love letter, which was 'Jawan'.
'Jawan' has emerged as one of the all-time biggest successes of the Hindi film industry and has cemented Atlee's position as one of the most promising filmmakers in India.
