The makers of Happy Bhaag Jayegi have decided to make a sequel to the film, which though was a sleeper hit and critically appreciated. They have also decided to cast Sonakshi Sinha in the project. Reports also suggested that Sonakshi also loved the first film and the concept of rom-com around runaway bride plotline and hence agreed to play the lead.

The premises for the Happy Bhaag Jayegi was impressive, and also upheld by the masses, hence it was a surprise sleeper hit of 2016. Though the question remains the same, why Diana Penty was replaced by Sonakshi Sinha , whereas Jimmy Shergill and Piyush Mishra will remain cast in the sequel! According to writer Mudassar Aziz , the story would be refreshed and rest of the casting would also be changed, hence Sonakshi could reprise such role. And also, the fact she has played the daring, fearless, bubbly and quirky character in Son of Sardar, so it wouldn’t be surprised if she could pull off such energetic charter easily.

Although, the title of the film will also be changed to ‘Happy Phir Bhag Jayegi’ or something else, would be too hard to guess as the film is in the pre-production phase and rest of the casting is yet to be decided. An official confirmation is yet to be made.
