Matthew Perry died unexpectedly at the age of 54, according to sources, after an apparent drowning incident. Perry had played two hours of pickleball the day before his death before coming home and asking his aide to run an errand. The untimely death of Matthew Perry was initially reported by TMZ and the Los Angeles Times. The LAPD also acknowledged to Page Six that they responded to a death investigation for a guy in his 50s but did not formally identify him as the actor. The Los Angeles Fire Department got an emergency call for a "water rescue or water emergency," but did not offer a precise location or confirm Perry's identification.

The presence of narcotics and foul play were ruled out as reasons in his death. Nonetheless, Perry's life has already been defined by a number of near-death experiences. He revealed a life-threatening occurrence at the age of 49 when his intestines ruptured owing to drug addiction in his 2022 memoir. While his publicist first reported a "gastrointestinal perforation," Perry had really spent two weeks in a coma and five months in the hospital.

Following the incident, he had a colostomy bag for nine months, which helped motivate him to conquer his opiate addiction. His therapist's advice regarding living with a colostomy bag assisted him in breaking free from his addiction.

Perry's heart stopped for five minutes during a rehab stint in November 2020 due to an unfavourable combination between propofol and the hydrocodone in his system. His life was spared by CPR, but the tragedy resulted in eight broken ribs, which cost him roles in the film ‘Don't Look Up’ with Meryl Streep.

Perry suffered from alcohol and drugs throughout his life, beginning his addiction at the age of 14. He became addicted to opiates after a jet ski accident while shooting ‘Fools Rush In’. During his time on ‘Friends’, he admitted to drinking a quart of vodka and taking 55 Vicodin tablets every day.

Perry claimed that he spent millions of dollars on his quest for recovery, highlighting the enormous financial and human toll that addiction had taken on his life.
