Zeenat Aman is celebrated as one of the most stunning actresses in the Hindi film industry. Her journey in the spotlight began at a young age when, at 19, she clinched the Miss Asia Pacific Pageant title in 1970, becoming the first Indian to do so. Born into a family deeply rooted in the world of cinema, with her father Amanullah Khan as a screenwriter and a famous cousin, actor Raza Murad, Zeenat's entry into the world of Bollywood was inevitable.

In 1971, she made her debut with the film "Hare Rama, Hare Krishna" and went on to work alongside some of the industry's biggest stars, leaving an indelible mark with her performances. However, beyond the glitz and glamour of the silver screen, Zeenat's personal life was marked by turbulence, and she grappled with the complexities of relationships.

Zeenat Aman and Sanjay Khan Marriage:

Her marriage to actor-director Sanjay Khan in 1978 made headlines, despite the knowledge that he was already married and had three children. However, the industry was shocked when reports of Zeenat Aman being abused by her husband were circulated. While there were reportedly many incidents of domestic violence, there was one particular incent that came into public knowledge. It also left Zeenat with a severe injury with which she struggled for 40 years.

Zeenat Aman was beaten by Sanjay Khan:

Zeenat was in Lonavala, shooting for one of her films when Sanjay Khan urgently called her to Mumbai. He was directing the film "Abdullah," in which Zeenat also starred, and wanted her to return to Bombay for some remaining scenes. Initially hesitant, Zeenat finally relented due to her deep affection for Sanjay.

However, what unfolded upon her return to Bombay was a horrifying ordeal. She discovered Sanjay partying with his wife, Zarine Katrak, at the Taj Hotel. Zeenat's intention was to discuss her prior commitments and schedule, but when Sanjay realized she had come in the presence of his wife, his rage knew no bounds. He physically assaulted her, grabbing her hair and repeatedly pushing her to the floor, subjecting her to a vicious beating.

Shockingly, during this brutal assault, no one from the hotel staff or the partygoers intervened to help the actress. To everyone's astonishment, instead of stopping the violence, his first wife Zarine encouraged and applauded her husband's brutal actions. She also verbally abused Zeenat and urged Sanjay to teach her a lesson she would never forget.

Zeenat Aman Suffered Severe Eye Injury:

This incident was not the first time Sanjay Khan had been violent towards Zeenat, but what set it apart was the unrestrained ferocity he unleashed that day. In the midst of the beating, Sanjay struck Zeenat's head multiple times, causing permanent damage to one of her eyes. This condition, typically diagnosed in childhood, resulted from a severe blow to her head.

Despite enduring such inhuman treatment from her husband, Zeenat Aman chose not to file a police case as she loved Sanjay Khan with all her heart and soul. However, she ultimately ended their marriage without seeking justice for the atrocities she had endured. However, news of the incident eventually surfaced, and in an interview, Zeenat's doctor revealed that this was not the first instance of abuse. The doctor disclosed, "This is not the first time this man (Sanjay Khan) has beaten her. Once before, she (Zeenat Aman) was given a black eye and kicked in the ribs so hard that I insisted on an X-Ray for fear of a crack."

Zeenat Aman's Surgery:

After almost 40 years of the incident, Zeenat was finally able to get treated for the injury. She took to Instagram recently an wrote, "I have a condition know as ptosis - the result of an injury I suffered many decades ago that damaged the muscles around my right eye. Over the years, it caused my eyelid to droop further and further. And a few years ago it became so acute that it began to obstruct my vision."

She then told, "The treatments available to me at that time, and for decades after, were unsuccessful. Then this year in April, a leading ophthalmologist informed me that things had advanced, and a surgery to lift the eyelid and restore my field of vision was possible."
