Rashmika Mandanna's deepfake video that went viral yesterday has left everyone in shock. The morphed video using Artificial Technology (AI) has reminded us of the new threats with the advancement in technology. As the video went viral, several Indian celebrities supported Rashmika while condemning the misuse of AI. The 'Pushpa' actress herself expressed her fear in a social media post. And now, the original girl, whose video was used to create Rashmika's video, has come forward to speak up.

Zara Patel Reacts To Rashmika Mandanna's Deepfake Video:

British-Indian influencer Zara Patel recently took to her Instagram and made it clear that she had no part in its creation. She said, “It has come to my attention that someone created a deepfake video using my body and a popular Bollywood actress’s face. I had no involvement with the deepfake video, and I’m deeply disturbed and upset by what is happening.”

She then emphasized the importance of fact-checking in today's digital landscape, urging her followers to be cautious about the authenticity of online content. "Please take a step back and fact-check what you see on the Internet. Not everything on the Internet is real," she cautioned.

The viral video in question showcased Zara Patel elegantly walking into an elevator, dressed in black. However, her face had been extensively altered using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to mimic the appearance of Rashmika Mandanna.

The viral video garnered the attention of veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who retweeted it, emphasizing the necessity for legal action, stating, "Yes, this is a strong case for legal intervention."

Rashmika Mandanna On Her Deepfake Video:

Rashmika Mandanna, whose identity was exploited in the deepfake video, also shared her dismay on Twitter. She conveyed, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused. Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft."
