According to rumours, the song was outlawed in the village of Bhalej. The report details an incident involving Firoz Thakor, a 25-year-old male. He allegedly sang a Himesh Reshammiya song in the evening while under the influence of evil. According to a comment from his older brother Aarif, "He ate too much that day and started behaving strangely. He wasn't talking to anybody but himself and refused to budge from the place where he was sitting. He only became normal when we consulted the Maulana (priest)."

In addition, the report quotes Isamiya Master, a retired teacher from Thakor Mohalla, who discusses numerous instances of people becoming possessed as a result of the song. ‘Aaja Aaja's’ lyrics, according to the master, entice ghosts. He reportedly said, "Getting possessed by evil power is not a new phenomenon. But of late the trend has increased. The evil follows you because the lyrics of the song have the words ‘Aaja aaja’ that invite the ghost." The song was then banned in the Mohalla.

The plot of the story is strikingly similar to that of the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor movie Stree. In the movie, residents of a village scribble "Oo Stree Kal Anna" on their walls to ward off ghosts. She was an extremely intelligent ghost!
