Rajini's admission, according to the actor's older brother Satyanarayana Rao Gaikwad, was brought on by his stringent diet regimen, which resulted in minor difficulties while trying to lose weight. During this period, rumours started to circulate that the celebrity may have gone through withdrawal symptoms after quitting alcohol, along with significant weight loss and dietary changes.

With each passing day, the situation only got worse. It was at this trying time that Sridevi, a close friend of Rajinikanth, learned of his illness and made the decision to send her prayers to Shirdi's Sai Baba. While sincerely wishing for his quick recovery, she fasted for seven days. She also went to the Sai Baba temple in Pune to ask for heavenly blessings. For those who are unaware, Sridevi and Rajinikanth had a tight professional relationship. They worked together on a number of films, including Johnny and Moondru Mudichu.

Rajinikanth's health was the subject of numerous daily stories during this time, which raised many people's concerns. In the middle of these rumours, it was even falsely reported that the renowned actor had passed away, which added to the worry of his admirers and well-wishers. But an official statement confirmed that Rajinikanth was scheduled to return to Tamil Nadu on July 13,2011 debunking all these baseless rumours.
