On Ranbir Kapoor's birthday, the teaser for his new film ‘Animal’ was released online, and it's everything you'd expect from a Sandeep Reddy Vanga flick. The brief teaser teases the film's plot, which appears to be a father-son relationship. Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor play a father and son who have always had a tough relationship. Despite this, Ranbir's character is programmed to believe that his father is the "best father in the world."
Ranbir's character looks to come from a wealthy family, but his difficulties with his father drive him down a dark and violent path. The second half of the trailer includes a peek of the same conflict depicted in the pre-teaser. Rashmika Mandanna plays Ranbir's love interest, and the teaser begins with her character saying that Ranbir should not be like his father, which irritates him. The teaser concludes with Bobby Deol unlocking the door, but not much else is revealed.

‘Animal’ was supposed to be released in August; however, it was later pushed back to December 1. Bhushan Kumar previously defined Animal as a "pan-world" film in an interview with an entertainment agency, saying, “We are very very excited and more than me, the audience is excited for it. This film has everything. It is a full-on entertainer. It is a proper pan-India, pan-world film where there is drama, there’s action, there’s story, there’s mind-blowing, never seen before performance by Ranbir Kapoor; Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and everybody have done brilliant performances in this so obviously you are excited about this. And today if you are excited and the public is equally excited, numbers are very sure. Like we are seeing for Jawan, people have made up their mind that they have to see the film. Even when something was launched many months back, everyone was confident that they want to see the film.”
‘Animal’ is Ranbir's second film of the year, following ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’. The February release, which also starred Shraddha Kapoor, was a box office success. Despite receiving few positive reviews, it grossed Rs 149.05 crore at the box office.
