Alia Bhatt made her acting debut alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan in the 2012 film ‘Student of the Year’. Since then, she has offered audiences back-to-back entertaining performances to binge on. Notably, her tenacious attitude has been obvious in her work, as have her acting abilities. Despite being a very brilliant actress, Alia recently revealed how her mother, Soni Razdan, "struggled as an actor" and how she was first clueless about her opportunities in the field.

While Alia Bhatt has already been embroiled in the discussion over nepotism, she has now disclosed how she was initially unaware of her privileges and how, despite being the wife of a director and producer (Mahesh Bhatt), her mother Soni Razdan tussled during her acting career.

She told InStyle Australia that she was aware of her family's involvement in the film industry and added, “So I naturally was also more inclined towards it, but it’s not like my father ever spoke to me like, ‘Oh, the day you want to act, we will give you this movie.’ He never brought that up. Never. And, in fact, my mum struggled as an actor. Not many people know this. She was always looking for more work as an actor, she doesn’t feel like she got her acting due, and this is being married to a director and producer.”

Speaking further about nepotism, she stated that she was first defensive about it, but that with age and time, her attitude toward it shifted. "My initial response to it was very defensive because I just felt like, you know, I work hard, so why the question?" she explained. "But I think with time and age, you realize there's a lot of struggles in the world, and there's a case to be made in acknowledging the head start and acknowledging I had an easier path to get into the room," the actress continued.
