The partnership of Hansal Mehta and Pratik Gandhi in ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’ became one of the most memorable Hindi online series. Harshad Mehta, a stock market scammer, was the subject of the web series. They also worked together on the short film ‘Baai’, which was included in the anthology ‘Modern Love: Mumbai.’
Mehta and Gandhi's latest collaboration, a web series about Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi as Mahatma Gandhi, is much anticipated because it is the duo's first program since Scam 1992. The online series is based on Ramachandra Guha's novels, 'Gandhi Before India' and 'Gandhi: The Years That Changed The World.' Pratik will play Gandhi in the musical, which will be produced by Applause Entertainment, which also produced ‘Scam 1992.’

Hansal Mehta mentioned in an interview that the program will begin filming shortly. “We are very heavily into pre-production. We will be commencing shoot within maximum of a month. We are preparing to begin shooting,” he remarked.
Pratik had previously played Gandhi in Manoj Shah's Gujarati drama ‘Mohan No Masalo’. He also appeared in the play's Hindi and English translations. Despite having watched the play, Hansal stated that it was not the reason he chose Pratik to represent Gandhi in his production.
“Pratik was cast in the show by Applause (Entertainment). I came into the show a month after Pratik was cast. After Pratik was cast and after I came in, we all went together to watch the play,” said the filmmaker.
Hansal pointed out that the play is much different from the show they intend to create, despite the fact that both are based on Gandhi's life.
“They are two different interpretations,” he said. “One, it is theatre. And it’s an interpretation of his life through a monologue. It’s a one-man act. It’s incredibly well performed. It’s incredible! But what we are doing right now is something far beyond that. It’s a different interpretation and a different medium altogether. We are doing our best to do something that we have never seen before.”
