Veteran actress Reena Roy is one of the most stunning faces to have ever graced the Hindi silver screen. Last seen as Amina Mohammed in JP Dutta's 'Refugee' (2000), Reena has been missing from films for a long time now. Though the actor regularly makes appearance on reality TV shows as well as events, fans are waiting for her to make a comeback soon.

With some good movie offers coming her way, the 'Kalicharan' actress recently revealed that she is gearing up for her grand return to films. Roy was also offered a role by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in his upcoming web series ‘Heeramandi’. However, the yesteryear actor turned down the project.

Reena Roy rejected 'Heeramandi' despite wanting to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Revealing her reason for refusing 'Heeramandi', the 66-year-old actress said that the part offered to her by Bhansali ‘lacked substance’. The role only required her to perform 'Mujra'; with absolutely no back-story whatsoever.

Roy told a leading entertainment portal that she was keen to work with a wonderful visionary like Bhansali but had to refuse him because the character was lackluster.

Reflecting on her hiatus from films, Reena Roy said as a single mother, she had the responsibility to look after her daughter (Sanam Khan) and her education. But now her studies are complete and she is eager to make a comeback.

“I wish to do something along the lines of movies like 'Baghban' and 'Mother India'. I watch more South films these days, that are dubbed in Hindi. Their action and dance are unbelievable and I really enjoy these films," Roy concluded.
