After two super-successful seasons, Bobby Deol is back with the Aashram season 3. The web series marks his return as Baba Nirala and this time, he wants to be called Bhagwan Nirala. The trailer, which was released on May 13, also introduces us to Esha Gupta (who's trying to seduce Baba Nirala) while bringing back several familiar faces in the show.
For his portrayal of a self-proclaimed godman who is a charlatan and tries to hide his illegal activities behind the garb of a popular cult, Bobby Deol won immense praise for the series. Speaking about the same, he said, "When I did this web series, I didn't know it'll get this popular and have a massive fan following. But I always had faith that the story is interesting and viewers will surely like it. And the way it was accepted by the audiences and the way people have loved me is truly wonderful."
"Despite playing such a negative role, people still told me 'kitne pyaare lag rahe ho aap show mein' (you look so very endearing in the show). I guess this is the most amazing compliment that any actor can get," remarked Bobby.
On the controversies surrounding the show, Bobby said he doesn't take them too seriously.
"There are always going to be people who will not like your work. And you can't really help it. Not everyone can be happy with the same thing; people will surely take out flaws. If there are ten people who didn't like Aashram, there are hundreds of others who've liked it. It's a part and parcel of life. So I don't take it to heart," he said.
"As an actor, I always look forward to playing different characters. And I'll keep doing that. Aashram is a very cherished project and it gave me the experience of a lifetime," added Deol.
Calling himself a director's actor, Bobby further revealed that he had immense faith in the credibility of Prakash Jha as a filmmaker. "Prakash ji has always chosen topics that are never spoken about. He has taken risks and made movies out of such topics that have been successful. It has a lot to do with his life approach and his experiences as an Individual and a filmmaker. It's really nice working with him," concluded Bobby.
Now coming to Aashram season 3, the series is directed by Prakash Jha and also features Anupriya Goenka, Adhyayan Suman, and Tridha Choudhury.
There was a major controversy while shooting for the third season as the sets of the show were vandalised in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal city. The ink was also thrown at Prakash Jha by Bajrang Dal activists, who accused the show of “defaming Hindus” and showing Hinduism in a bad light.
Aashram season 3 begins streaming on MX Player on 03 June 2022.
