Naseeruddin Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari and Aashim Gulati to topline ZEE5’s next historical show?
According to reports, Naseeruddin Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Aashim Gulati have signed on to headline an upcoming streaming show for ZEE5, one of the leading home-grown OTT platforms in India.
The consumption of OTT content has grown exponentially over the past two years, especially during the pandemic, and ZEE5 has been on the forefront of providing a broad category of films and original shows to its subscribers across the globe.
Continuing the trend, the streamer is now set to launch yet another high-profile show, featuring an ensemble cast. So far, Naseeruddin Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Aashim Gulati have been finalised, as per reports. Casting for other important characters is currently underway.
A publication reports that well-established production house Contiloe Entertainment, known for delivering several successful shows on television, is set to bankroll the yet-to-be-titled project. The team is planning to mount it on a lavish scale. The production house has previously produced State of Siege: 26/11 for ZEE5 which received great response from critics and audiences alike.
Not much else is known about the forthcoming venture, but the publication reports that it might be titled Taj and will revolve around Emperor Akbar. Naseeruddin Shah might play the character of Akbar while Aashim Gulati and Aditi Rao Hydari are speculated to essay the roles of Shahjahan and Anarkali respectively.
