Tender Emotions: When Neha Kakkar cried after seeing her former landlord's son at Indian Idol audition

Popular singer Neha Kakkar, who turns 34 today, is not just known for her versatile singing style but also for her over-sensitive and sentimental nature.

The singer, who has judged multiple singing reality shows on television, is famous for her emotional breakdowns on learning about the struggles of contestants. Very often, Neha would be so emotionally moved that she'd burst into tears.

Ironically, Neha herself had participated in Indian Idol but her journey did not last long. Years later, she judged the show after establishing herself as a force to reckon with.

In 2018, a young boy appeared on Indian Idol and after he introduced himself, Neha realised that he was the son of her old landlord, who had passed away recently.

Recalling her past memories of those times, Neha said, “Me and Sonu didi (Sonu Kakkar, her elder sister who's also a singer), when we used to sing at jagrans, his father also did many jagrans. He had a band and we used to sing for him. We were really young. In fact, we have even lived at their house. Oh my God!"

Expressing regret at not being able to meet her landlord one last time, she added, “Kitne dukh ke baat hai. Us waqt hum kaafi gareeb hua kartey they, bohot hi zyada gareeb the hum log. Us waqt kaafi help bhi ki thi inke papa ne. Inke papa mummy hume khana khilate the, hum inke ghar pe rahe they kuch dinon ke liye (It's so unfortunate... We used to be poor, very poor back then. His dad and mom helped us a lot during those tough times, fed us and even allowed us to stay with him)."

Neha later burst into tears when the boy sang Mann Ki Lagan, remembering his father. The contestant's mother later appeared on the stage who recalled how Neha and Sonu used to sing at Jagran as kids. To this, Neha replied, “We would sing all night. More than me, the credit goes to Sonu didi. She was so young when she started singing. If I am a singer, it was only because of her,” she said.

It was rather an emotional moment on the show as everybody present was moved to tears. Even co-judge Anu Malik applauded Neha and her zeal in remembering her late landlord with so much love and affection.
