Gautam discussed his competition with Prince in an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, as well as how Bollywood host Salman Khan served as the mediator.

Gautam and Prince have frequently engaged in unpleasant arguments, and when Gautam addressed the issue, he expressed his want for everyone's well-being. He stated: "We are gang leaders and Rhea and I are not in any team. We are there to judge the contestants and I don’t even have any such issues with Prince. And joh bhi chotey motey issues hue related to Prince I feel it was because of his immaturity (bachpana). He started talking to me in such a way, there are people who are competitive and they behave like that but I don’t give it so much importance. Like, I said I’m very cool and calm and I don’t believe in competition with anyone. I believe in doing better for myself and giving my best everyday and I don’t think about others. Main Kehta hoon Bhagwan kare sab Accha kare and I think like that. I’ve learnt this from my mother. I’ve seen her praying for others all her life and not just for ourselves. I feel everyone should do better in life."

At first, Gautam claimed he was taken aback by Prince's frequent jabs at him and even attempted to contact the channel to get them to stop. "I don’t know what was happening, initially I was very surprised and you can see in the episode also. I told the channel what’s wrong with the ‘Roadies’ judge next door and why is he behaving like a contestant (laughs). And what should I do? How do I handle this? It is not Bigg Boss that I’ve to stay with them and I can’t leave the show. It’s not like if I quit the show I’ll have to pay a hefty amount to the judges, ‘Roadies’ doesn’t work like that. Initially, I handled everything patiently even though he was going personal. Then when it got too much I thought I should call up a few seniors from the industry and inform them that he’s behaving in such a way and he should be respectful towards the other judge, but then I felt it is better to walk off than snatch someone’s jobs, it’s not my personality. I could have done it by calling people and telling them about his unprofessional behaviour."

The ‘Radhe’ actor said he was about to leave the reality program because he couldn't stand the humiliation. "Everyone was shocked why is he taking a dig at Gautam, misbehaving with me and why does he have a tone? Knowing the fact that I’m his senior and have been working in the industry for such a long time. But maybe some people like to behave this way…I’m not one of those who boasts about my own achievements. I’m not a contestant. Ek time ke baad he started talking ‘Tu Tu karke’, I ignored that also thinking we are of same age it’s fine, but profile work wise I’ve worked way more than him. But after a point I felt I need to draw a line or I’m out. I made my mind that I should pack my bags and leave as it the channel's job to control him. I’m very gutsy and I decided chal yaar main hi chala jaata hoon…. Because the problem was not from my our my team’s side," he shared.

Salman Khan, who has collaborated with both Prince Narula and Gautam Gulati, however, played the mediator and contacted them both to ask them to make amends. "My team was feeling bad but I made them understand that whenever we work, we should work with dignity warna nahi karna, bezzati karwa ke kya kaam karna. So I was leaving the show but then everything worked well. Later, he apologised to me and Rhea and we accepted. In fact, Salman sir also learnt about it “kuch aisa hua hai set par”. He called me up to ask and I informed him about everything and I told him I’m quitting as I don’t want to take away his job. I’m representing you and I don’t think we are doing anything wrong, it’s better we leave. Then he called Prince as well and asked me to give him some time. Salman sir called me back in 15 seconds and told me “Kal Subah Woh call karega tujhe I’ve made him understand pyaar se.. ab Dono mil ke raho pyaar se acche se.. shoot karo.” But the funny part is Prince did not stop and he did it again which you will watch in the show going forward," revealed Gautam.

In response to being questioned about Prince's assertion that Gautam had demotivated him during his stint as a guest on ‘Bigg Boss 9’, the actor said, "I get invited on Bigg Boss every season to give the show a vibe. Woh bulate hain… every season and I can never demotivate anyone in the show. Sometimes I’m told to say a few things in my in-ear by creative but I don’t follow it. Main Usko Nikal ke pocket main rakh deta hoon… I just follow my heart and I say things which are indirect. I remember telling him that “follower never wins the show and a leader always wins the show”, so don’t be a chela. I motivated him. Being an actor I remember, I can never say anyone on their face that you can never win the show, that’s not my nature. I pray to god that everyone should do well in life."

In addition to telling him not to pass judgment on individuals after meeting them, Gautam also revealed that he and Prince had resolved all of their problems. "It was a misunderstanding that he had and it is now cleared. By the end of the show we became friends. Now there is no animosity, he is a nice guy. He judges everyone. Woh kaan ka kaccha hai, he believes what he hears about someone. He starts judging you even before he meets you. He is a very nice guy he just needs to stop judging people. He has that likeable character, but the moment this negativity and this kind of content comes, then people don’t like such individuals who always keep screaming or fighting. He should just respect others and be friends," he concluded.
