Film and television series producer Ekta Kapoor has come out in the support of TV stars who have slammed actress Radhika Madan for her remarks about the Indian television industry.

The Padmashri awardee is the latest to join the bandwagon of cine actors like Sayantani Ghosh, Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya, Anita Hassanandani Reddy and Karanvir Bohra who have called out Madan for bringing down the name of TV industry.

Sharing a screenshot of Sayantani Ghosh’s interview on Instagram, Kapoor slammed Madan. “Sad and shameful actors have no respect for their roots Kudos

Radhika Madan said lack of innovation and long working hours plague Indian TV industry

During a recent interview, Radhika Madan (who started a career from TV shows) shared the perils of working in the TV industry- of long, taxing hours and a dearth of innovation.

Madan revealed that she used to work for almost 48-50 hours for 'Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi' (which was produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms). She went on to add that the directors of the show would frequently change and there was no fixed screenplay.

"Aap set par Chalo, script garma garam aa raha hai', this is what I was told when I asked for a script while working in the show," she said, claiming that all her inputs were also rejected by the directors.

TV actors have termed Radhika's remark as 'disrespectful'

However, Radhika's comments didn't go down too well with other TV actors. Sayantani Ghosh also replied to Radhika on Instagram. She wrote: “Very happy for you radhikamadan and an ardent admirer of you! I remember your last show and you were really good at it. And if I remember correctly, it was a TV show. Indeed a great start to a promising career!! Just found this thought process a bit sorry! Putting down the world of TV is indeed sad! Everything in life has its way of functioning, has challenges/shortcomings, and strengths!’’

Similarly, television actors like Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya, Anita Hassanandani Reddy and Karanvir Bohra also condemned Radhika's statements, terming them as disrespectful.

Noteworthy, Radhika Madan started her career in 2014 with Colors' TV show 'Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi'. She was cast in the series after a chance meeting with Ekta Kapoor in Delhi where Madan was a group dancer for a show.

In 'Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi', Radhika played Ishaani Parekh opposite Shakti Arora's Ranveer Vaghela. Based on Emily Bronte's British novel Wuthering Heights, the series aired from 24 June 2014 to 19 February 2016. Both Shakti Arora and Radhika Madan’s on-screen chemistry was much liked by fans and the show was generated great TRP ratings when it was on air.
