Hina Khan is making headlines at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. People have bowed down to her flawless fashion game after seeing her three outfits at the French Riviera. Khan is in attendance for the premiere of the poster for her film Country of the Blind. The actress recently expressed her disappointment at not being invited to the Indian delegation's opening ceremony at the festival.
She noted in an interview that while things have changed in the industry (and for her) in recent years, particularly since her first appearance at Cannes, not nearly enough has happened to blur the lines between movie stars and television stars. The actress stated that elitism is widespread, citing an example of how the entire fraternity was present in the India Pavilion, but she was not invited.
The Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata (2009) actress stated that she was neither envious nor jealous of her coworkers or other actresses present. She emphasized that the pavilion was not only for Bollywood, but also for musicians and others. She said, "I could have been in the audience at least. I loved that Ghoomar video. I felt so proud seeing my country being represented so beautifully. I am a proud Indian."
Khan concluded by stating that she didn't blame anyone, but that elitism was much more prevalent than most people realised.
