Starring Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles, the forthcoming Hindi film The Kashmir Files has been creating a lot of stir ever since its theatrical trailer came out a few days ago. Helmed by well-known filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, the film narrates the painful tale of the departure of Kashmiri Hindus in the early 1990s as a result of the Kashmir Insurgency.
Recently, a fan suggested Agnihotri to advertise his film on The Kapil Sharma Show. However, the filmmaker minced no words and said that he is not being allowed to promote the film on the comedian’s hit talk show.
“I don’t get to decide who should be invited on The Kapil Sharma Show. It’s his and his producer’s choice whom he wants to invite. As far as Bollywood is concerned, I’d say what once Mr. Bachchan was quoted saying about Gandhis: Vo raja hai hum rank,” tweeted the filmmaker.
This did not go down well with some film enthusiasts and they expressed their anger on social media, with some even demanding a boycott of The Kapil Sharma Show.
“The Kapil Sharma show serves a different ideology, so it will never support such films. It will cater to the same nepotistic mindless masala cheap grade films,” one user wrote.
Another wrote, “Yes, The Kapil Sharma Show should be boycotted. Till now, we all thought that he was an impartial and nice lovable man. But, from this, it is clear that Kapil Sharma is also a biased and greedy man.”
The Kashmir Files is set to hit theatres on 11th March.
