Television will soon witness the recreation of Rajesh Khanna ’s ‘ Bawarchi ’. Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and also starring Jaya Badhuri, the film was a laugh riot. Made in 1972, this cult movie was inspired by the Bengali film ‘Galpa Holeo Satyi’ (1966). The movie was appreciated by the masses as well as classes. Now Star Bharat is all set to recreate the film on the small screen with the title ‘Jai Kanhaiya Laal Ki’. The show will have Vishal Vashishtha playing the title role. Though the movie will follow the plot of ‘Bawarchi’, it’s actually a remake of Star Jolsha’s very popular Bengali show ‘Bhajo Govindo’.

This will be the first Hindi television show to be entirely shot in Kolkata from start to end. As many of us are familiar with the movie, the show’s plot will also highlight how a cook resolves the inter-personal conflicts of the family members and becomes the apple in the eye. It is believed that noted Bengali actor Dipankar De will also play the significant role in the show and it will also mark the debut of famous Bangla TV actress, Sweta Bhattacharya.

We will get to see the promos of the show from next week, and ‘Jai Kanhaiya Laal Ki’ will probably replace ‘Ayushmann Bhava’ or it will be aired on the same time slot, leaving the makers of ‘Ayushmann Bhava’ to shuffle the timing of their show.
