Finally things are moving forward in the direction! And the controversy, resistance was building up the momentum as each episode unravelled. And it reached to so such pinnacle that audiences started to voice their opinion and an online petition put in motion to remove such shows from the television. The plotline for the show Pehredaar Piya Ki goes as the circumstances force a girl to look after the royal clan's 10-year-old prince. And the things take a turn when the young boy falls in love with his keeper and that’s the moment most of the audience member thing it is downright creepy and kind of paedophilic to show such weird chemistry. To their defence, the makers made it clear that it was one tradition that used to exist in the past and we just shown its rendition.

Even the female lead of this show, Tejasswi Prakash, also shared her stand on HindustanTimes about this petition fiasco, saying “I’m not worried about the outcome of such petitions. And what influence? I’d really want to meet these kids who want to marry an 18-year-old girl. I’ll ensure personally that it doesn’t happen, don’t worry about it.” Although she previously defended her stand saying “It also happened in Game Of Thrones… People love Game Of Thrones and if same thing happens in Pehredaar Piya Ki, then it’s an issue” which does makes a point!

To the other side, people who forwarded petition made their stand clear stating, “A 10-year-old impressionable little kid caressing and stalking a lady who’s more than double his age and filling Sindoor in her “maang” is being telecasted at prime time, family time. Imagine the kind of influence it will steadily and perpetually infuse in the viewers’ mindset.”

As for now, so far the Pehredaar Piya Ki has garnered 0.8 ratings and about the petition Smriti Irani written to BCCC them to take immediate and necessary action against the show, on priority basis. It would be interesting to see of what the end result would be!
