Yashoda: Director duo Hari-Harish revealed that Samantha Prabhu said no to body doubles for the action scenes

Apart from her many projects, Samantha Prabhu will be next starring in Yashoda directed by Hari-Harish. In a recent chat, the filmmakers discussed working with the actress and their fast-paced action movie. They said that although they had received all the accolades and acclaim, their goal was to connect with a wider audience and offer something unique. This caused them to take a two-year vacation after their previous movie, during which they worked on Yashoda.

The director-duo who will be making their Telugu debut said, “We wanted to approach a star who can understand different storytelling, which is also commercial to meet mainstream audiences’ expectations. We wanted to get someone who can perform well and has equal stardom…the first choice was Samantha and luckily, within 25 mins of the first meeting, she said yes."

Hari-Harish also revealed that the Theri actress refused to take any help for the action scenes. “The major action portion of the film has been shot on sets. For the fight sequences, Sam wanted to be there for rehearsals that went for 2 or 3 days… she wanted to do all the scenes herself. She absolutely said no to body doubles and even in a few scenes where the rope is required for safety, she did it on her own. She was totally enjoying it,” said the filmmakers.

According to reports, the film’s teaser is likely to be out by the end of July. The film also stars Unni Mukundan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in pivotal roles.
