After a three-month hiatus, Prithviraj Sukumaran, the acclaimed actor-filmmaker, has returned to work. The multi-faceted Malayalam cinema star is now filming his third directorial endeavor, ‘L2: Empuraan’, a sequel to his maiden feature as a filmmaker, ‘Lucifer’. Meanwhile, Prithviraj Sukumaran is a busy actor with a number of interesting projects in the works.
As you may be aware, Prithviraj Sukumaran celebrated his 41st birthday on Monday, October 16, 2023. On this occasion, the creators of the outstanding actor's ambitious project ‘Vilaayath Buddha’ released his much-anticipated first look poster from the film on social media channels.

After a lengthy gap, Prithviraj Sukumaran is going to portray a rural role in ‘Vilaayath Buddha’, directed by Jayam Nambiar, a close collaborator of late filmmaker Sachi. The actor-director is depicted in an intense avatar as Double Mohanan, a small-town smuggler, in the enticing first-look poster that is already sweeping the internet.
The poster depicts the skilled actor with a tanned appearance, holding an electric saw machine in his hands and a burning cigarette in his lips. In the preview, Prithviraj Sukumaran, dressed in a green-blue checkered shirt and a light blue lungi, resembles some of his famed prior avatars, notably Chandra Haasan from Chakram, implying that he is going to deliver yet another powerful performance.
Prithviraj Sukumaran was involved in an accident on the sets of ‘Vilaayath Buddha’ in June 2023, while filming an action sequence. The actor sustained a serious leg injury and required emergency surgery. Later, he took a three-month sabbatical from work to focus on his healing path before returning to ‘L2: Empuraan’ sets.

The shooting of ‘Vilaayath Buddha’ was halted following Prithviraj Sukumaran's accident, and it is anticipated to restart when the actor completes the first few schedules of his directorial endeavour ‘L2: Empuraan.’ The film, which is based on GR Indugopan's popular Malayalam novel of the same name, also stars Kottayam Ramesh, Shammi Thilakan, and Anu Mohan.
