Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s fans have been eagerly waiting to see the actress in a regal avatar in the film ‘Shaakuntalam’. The film which was set to release last year got pushed to this year because of Samantha’s health conditions. Now, the February 17 theatre release date for the Telugu movie has been pushed back by a few months. The movie's makers announced through their social media on Friday that the new release date is April 14.
The makers released a fresh poster along with a release but did not specify the specific reason for the delay. Reportedly, Samantha also celebrates her birthday in the month of April when the film is released. In the film, Samantha is set to play the lead character, Shakuntala, ij the flick.
Shaakuntalam, a highly funded film, is based on the widely acclaimed Sanskrit play "Abhijnana Shakuntalam" by Kalidasa. The movie, which is helmed by popular filmmaker Gunasekhar is also producing it and will be released in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. Among the supporting cast members of Shaakuntalam are Prakash Raj, Sachin Khedekar, Aditi Balan, Dr. M Mohan Babu, Kabir Bedi, Ananya Nagalla, and Jisshu Sengupta.
