The Telugu remake Varasadu will debut on the same day as the Tamil original. During the Pongal festival, the movie is scheduled to compete with Prabhas' awaited mythical epic Adipurush in the southern Indian states. Ramayana is the inspiration for Om Raut's film Adipurush, which he also wrote and directed. Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon play key parts in the movie as well. Two days before the Pongal/Sankranti celebrations, on January 12, it is scheduled to open in theatres.
A source close to the film gave an update regarding the film saying, "The producers are now concentrating on pre-release promotions and intend to release the movie's first single during Diwali week. Vijay has already given his approval to a few poster-look photographs, but there is still some uncertainty and a potential delay in the release of the first song. The second single from the movie has been sung by Vijay, and it will be a good song. Again, there will be a surprise for the audience.”
Rashmika Mandanna will star opposite Vijay in the Vamshi Paidipally-directed film Varisu, with Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Shaam, Khushbu, Sangeetha, Yogi Babu, and Samyuktha serving as supporting players. Varisu, a Pongal 2023 release, is being produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations.
