Suriya is one of the rare actors who has nailed every single film of his and made sure that it reaches his fans. Whether playing a lawyer fighting for justice in Jai Bhim or an amnesiac lover boy in Ghajini, the actor manages to move spectators with almost every performance. He is regarded as one of the best actors in India, not just in South or Kollywood. Recently, filmmaker Shankar has received appreciation from actor Suriya for continually revolutionizing Indian cinema. The actor made the remarks while taking part in the audio premiere of his brother Karthi's movie Viruman, which just took place. Shankar attended the occasion in order to encourage his daughter Aditi Shankar, who is making her acting debut in the movie. Suriya made a point of pointing out that Shankar has been producing pan-Indian films for thirty years, long before the idea became fashionable in recent years.

Suriya added that everyone in the nation is anticipating Shankar's future films, Indian 2 and an untitled one starring Ram Charan. Suriya exclaimed, “Shankar sir showed us what it is to make pan-India films long back. He’s been doing it for 30 years, constantly redefining Indian cinema with his movies. The anticipation around his films has been always there. Even now, entire India is looking forward to his Indian 2 and his next film with Ram Charan."

Recently, Suriya bagged the National Award 2022 for the Best actor with his film Soorarai Pottru. Despite having a straight OTT release, the movie was a tremendous hit because of the enthusiastic feedback that fans posted on Twitter. Not once, but twice, Suriya was able to capture the interest of audiences and media throughout the world. Despite the language barrier and lack of comprehension, films like Jai Bhim and Soorarai Pottru were so successful with international audiences that the Oscars recognized them. Also, Suriya is also the only south actor to be invited to join the Oscars committee.
