According to reports, the release of the much-anticipated pan-India film RRR has been postponed due to a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases across India. Directed by celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli, the mega-budgeted period drama features Ram Charan and Jr NTR in lead roles with Bollywood stars Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt also portraying important characters.

After facing several setbacks over the past two years, RRR was finally set to enter theatres on January 7, 2022. However, if fresh reports are to be believed, the film’s release has been deferred yet again. The makers are expected to make the official announcement regarding the same in some time.

A publication reports that the makers have already informed the exhibitor sector about postponing the release of the film before making an official announcement. As far as the new release date is concerned, the makers will take any call only after assessing the COVID-19 situation in days to come. If health experts are to be believed, India will witness a peak in the daily cases of coronavirus only by February. Does that mean the wait is going to be a tab bit longer for RRR? Well, only time will tell.
