South Indian films do not always work well with the Hindi audience, however, if one has the stylish star Allu Arjun headlining it, it is a different story. The same happened with the Telugu-language film Pushpa: The Rise. When the Hindi dubbed version of the film released on December 17, no one had thought it would manage to create the kind of magic it eventually did by registering an opening weekend of ₹12.68 crores.
The film was in competition with the films like Spiderman: No Way Home (2021) and Ranveer Singh’s 83 (2021). However, it did not affect the collection of the film at the box office. Till now, Pushpa (Hindi) alone has pocketed over ₹62 crores. While the total income of the film has crossed the ₹200 crore mark, the film is now aiming for ₹250 crores.
While Spiderman: No Way Home took away the big chunk of multiplexes, the single screen became houseful with Pushpa. The total collection of the film which is ₹228 crores till now is competing with Spider-man’s Indian box office collection which is at a staggering ₹260 crores. The film is expected to surpass Spider-Man’s collection soon to emerge as the highest-grossing film at the Indian box office.
