Malayalam actor and filmmaker Pratap Pothen passed away in Chennai. He completed 70 years. Details about his demise are awaited. The actor was last seen in Mammooty’s hit ‘CBI5 The Brain’.
The late Pratap Pothen has completed nearly a hundred films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. He made his debut as an actor in the 1978 movie ‘Aaravam’ and his other popular works include ‘Thakara’, ‘Chamaram’and ‘22 Female Kottayam’. Films like ‘Moodupani’ (1980), ‘Varumayin Niram Sivappu’ (1980), ‘Nenjathai Killathe’ (1980), and 'Panneer Pushpangal’ (1981) made Pratap famous in the Tamil film industry also.
Pratap Pothen made his directorial debut with ‘Meendum Oru Kaathal Kathai’ in 1985, which won him a national award. He even directed three Malayalam films ‘Rithubhedam’, ‘Daisy’ and ‘Oru Yathramozhi’ starring veteran actors Mohanlal and Sivaji Ganeshan.
