Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph are one of Malayalam cinema's most dynamic director-actor duos. The combination has provided blockbuster films like the ‘Drishyam’ trilogy; thus, the revelation that they will be cooperating on a fourth movie was favourably received.
The film's title, ‘Neru’, which translates to "right" in Malayalam, was unveiled earlier this year. The film started production in August of this year. According to the most recent update from film industry tracker AB George, the film will be released on December 21 this year. A Christmas release date also implies that the picture might collide with the Prabhas-starrer ‘Salaar’. However, there has been no formal confirmation of the release.

‘Neru’ is Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal's fourth collaboration, following the 2013 film ‘Drishyam’, the 2021 film ‘Drishyam 2’, and the 2022 film ‘12th Man’. Although nothing is known about the film, it is described as a legal drama and stars Priyamani, Siddique, Anaswara Rajan, Jagadish, Ganesh Kumar, and others.
The film is produced by Santhy Antony and Antony Perumbavoor under the name of Aashirvad Cinemas, while Vishnu Shyam provided the soundtrack. The film's camera is operated by Satheesh Kurup, while the editing is handled by VS Vinayak.
‘Salaar' is Prashanth Neel's first film in Telugu. Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Easwari Rao, Tinnu Anand, and many others star in the film.
The film is produced by Vijay Kirgandur under the brand Hombale Films, while the cinematography is handled by Bhuvan Gowda. The film will be released in theatres on December 22nd.
Mohanlal will also appear in another Jeethu Joseph film, ‘Ram’, in addition to ‘Neru’. The ‘Oppam’ actor will also appear in Lijo Jose Pellissery's next film, ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’, as well as Prithviraj's much-anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster ‘Lucifer’, dubbed ‘L2: Empuraan’. In addition, Mohanlal's directorial debut, ‘Barroz’, is under post-production.
