Suriya is one of the rare actors who has nailed every single film of his and made sure that it reaches his fans. Whether playing a lawyer fighting for justice in Jai Bhim or an amnesiac lover boy in Ghajini, the actor manages to move spectators with almost every performance. He is regarded as one of the best actors in India, not just in South or Kollywood. And this doesn’t come as a shock as Suriya bags the National Award 2022 for the Best actor with his film Soorarai Pottru. Suriya's fans are ecstatic that he has finally received the national exposure that the actor so richly deserves.

For his performance of Nedumaaran in Soorarai Pottru, the beloved actor received the Best Actor National Award. He shared the honor with Ajay Devgn, another accomplished actor. To share his happiness with his fans and to reach out to people who have been pouring out wishes to him for this achievement, the actor wrote a thankful note on his Instagram.

In the note, he congratulated all of the prize winners and thanked all of the technicians in the note. He complimented Ajay Devgn on the shared success and hailed Mani Ratnam, the filmmaker who gave him his big start. The Jai Bhim actor praised the Indian government, the jury, and his wife Jyotika for pushing him to join in Soorarai Pottru. He also thanked his followers for their unwavering support.

G. R. Gopinath, a retired army captain who started the low-cost airline Air Deccan, is the subject of the dramatized biography Soorarai Pottru. Despite having a straight OTT release, the movie was a tremendous hit because of the enthusiastic feedback that fans posted on Twitter. Not once, but twice, Suriya was able to capture the interest of audiences and media throughout the world. Despite the language barrier and lack of comprehension, films like Jai Bhim and Soorarai Pottru were so successful with international audiences that the Oscars recognized them. Suriya is also the only south actor to be invited to join the Oscars committee. He is among the 397 artists and executives to have received an invitation to join members of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
