The forthcoming action film ‘Leo,’ starring Thalapathy Vijay in the title role, is set to hit theatres on October 19, Thursday. While the starring hero, as usual, has avoided promotional efforts, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has been completely immersed in marketing his ambitious film these days.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj spoke extensively about the Thalapathy Vijay movie in a recent YouTube interview, and revealed some fascinating titbits. Surprisingly, the filmmaker, well renowned for his groundbreaking action pictures, remarked that ‘Leo’ had a 'template plot' that moviegoers would recognize in many respects.

Lokesh Kanagaraj was asked about the ‘Leo’ trailer, which features a storyline that is comparable to how a movie generally plays, with a specified first half and a second half, during an interview with the Cinema Express YouTube channel. The filmmaker, who disclosed that it was a deliberate endeavour, went on to say that he intended the trailer to represent exactly what the Thalapathy Vijay-starrer is about - with the first, second, and third acts.
"With Vikram, I attempted a non-linear narrative. But Leo is not a non-linear movie, but it has a linear narrative. The story of this movie is quite familiar to Tamil cinema. But we wanted to try and tell the story differently," the director explained in an interview.
"I've felt that a lot more can be added to such stories, and it can be made quite more exciting. And I wanted to make a big star like Thalapathy Vijay act in such a story. Obviously, it is a template story. But the experience that you get in theatre - that will be different," he further added.
As previously reported, Thalapathy Vijay plays Parthiban, an ordinary family guy, and Leo Das, a feared criminal, in the film, his second collaboration with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj. Trisha Krishnan plays the female role opposite Vijay in the film.
In supporting parts, the film stars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Anand, Mansoor Ali Khan, Babu Antony, Mathew Thomas, Sandy Master, and many others. Anirudh Ravichander created the songs as well as the original score for ‘Leo’.
