Gentlemen 2: 1993 Blockbuster to be remade after almost three decades!
Co-written and directed by S. Shankar in his directorial debut, and produced by K. T. Kunjumon Gentleman was the biggest hit of 1993. The film did huge business at the box office as well as bagged several awards. After decades the makers of this film came up with the second installment of this movie. Though the film is in the primary phase and there are no official statements on the same but there is buzz that the beast actress Nayanthara is likely to the lead role in this film.
It is believed that Baahubali fame composer, M. M. Keeravani is going to provide tunes for this latest outing. Gentleman financer, Kunjumon is credited with visualizing this sequel. However, he is yet to get a director on board for it.
The original story of the film revolves around a respected Madras-based businessman who moonlights as a thief who steals from the rich and gives to the poor for their education. Kunjumon had to distribute the film on his own since no distributors were willing to buy this film as they felt "it looked like a dubbed film". Despite this, it became a major commercial success, running for over 175 days in theatres
On the work front, the Lady Superstar Nayanthara will reportedly be essaying the role of an investigative officer in the untitled movie alongside Shah Rukh Khan. She will also be seen as SRK’s love interest in the film.
