The Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty, who has collaborated on some of the biggest Indian movies over the years, recently stirred debate on Twitter with his remarks about SS Rajamouli's masterpiece RRR (2022), featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the key roles.
Saw 30 minutes of garbage called RRR last night.

In response to the actor-writer Munish Bharadwaj's tweet, Pookutty referred to the film as "a gay love story." In addition, he said Alia Bhatt was "only a prop" in the film.
As a result of Resul's remarks against RRR, Baahubali (2015) producer Shobu Yarlagadda has slammed the sound designer for his statements in a tweet.
I don't think RRRMovie is a gay love story as you say but even if it was, is "gay love story" a bad thing? How can you justify using this ? Extremely disappointed that someone of your accomplishments can stoop so low! https://t.co/c5FmDjVYu9

Taking to Twitter, Yarlagadda penned, “I don’t think RRRMovie is a gay love story as you say but even if it was, is ‘gay love story’ a bad thing? How can you justify using this? Extremely disappointed that someone of your accomplishments can stoop so low!”

In a subsequent tweet, Resul replied that he didn't intend to offend anyone. He tweeted, "Agree totally. Absolutely nothing wrong even if it was. I merely quoted my friend, the banter that already exists in the public domain and nothing else. There is no stopping factor in this. You don't have to take it seriously Shobu, I didn't mean to offend any stakeholders. I rest my case here!"
RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, has been one of the most popular Indian movies of 2022 since it debuted in theatres earlier this year.
