Adipurush’, the eagerly anticipated movie from Om Raut, was released last week to great acclaim. Even though the movie had a record-breaking opening weekend at the box office, it has been losing ground since earlier this week. However, Prabhas appears to have prevented the movie from suffering further box office losses. To find out how, scroll down.

The mythical drama, a 3D movie, debuted in theatres worldwide on June 16. The movie has gotten unfavourable reviews from reviewers and viewers alike since its premiere. Many criticised the producers for their erroneous portrayal of the ‘Ramayana's’ characters.

Om Raut intended to divide the film into two parts to keep up with the times, according to a Telugu 360 report. He was also obliged to take this line of action by the overall runtime. He requested Prabhas to continue filming ‘Adipurush’ for an additional month so that he could break the plot into two parts.

Prabhas disagreed, though, and persuaded the ‘Adipurush’ team that a two-pronged approach would not work for the movie. The makers then made the choice to put off their choice. The movie had a budget of 500–600 crores; a sequel would have brought that figure up to more than 1000 crores. They would have suffered a huge financial loss because the first installment bombed at the box office.

Earlier media sources said that an OTT behemoth bought the digital rights to Om Raut's renowned movie and made a sizable profit before the movie's release. According to an OTT Play report, Amazon Prime Video reportedly paid a stunning Rs 250 crore for the digital rights to Adipurush. Given that the Telugu version was sold for about 185 crores, the film appears to have already made 435 crores of its 500 crore budget.
