Veteran actor Kamal Haasan is one of the famous stars from the Indian film industry. According to him, his national award-winning film, ‘Hey Ram,’ is a way of saying sorry to Mahatma Gandhi, whom he considered a Bitter Critic during his Teenage. The actor recently had a conversation with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The conversation video clip is uploaded on the official channel of the congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The discussion features Kamal Haasan narrating about his completing 2000 period crime drama to make him correct.

Kamaal Haasan speaking with Rahul Gandhi in the video clip:-

The actor says, “I talk much about Gandhi ji now, but it wasn’t right from the beginning. My father was a Congressman, but my environment made me a bitter critic of Gandhi ji when I was in my teens. My father said, ‘Just read history, you are talking from today.’ But today matters, is what (I had said). He is a lawyer, but he didn’t argue with me on this.”

Kamal Haasan recalled how he wandered towards Gandhi and his thoughts in his Teenage and decided to have the film, ‘Hey Ram.’ The film starred, produced, directed and written by Kamal Haasan. The film follows an alternate history and depicts India’s Partition and the elimination of Mahatma Gandhi by Nathuram Godse.

He continues, “Around when I was 24-25, I discovered Gandhi ji on my own, and I have exponentially become a fan over the years. To correct yourself and say sorry, that’s why I made Hey Ram, where I played a parallel assassin, wanting to kill Gandhi ji. As he goes nearer to the person–and the truth–he changes. But it’s too late. Somebody else does the job that he wants to do but changes his mind. That’s the story of the film.”

Rahul Gandhi asked him about he came up with the film idea. Haasan replied yes and added, “It was my way of saying sorry to my Bapu. I have to take the onus of the crimes, including what happened in your family. We let it happen.”

The film Hey Ram:-

Film Hey Ram has received three awards for best supporting actor for Atul Kulkarni, costume design for Sarika, and Manthra for special effects in the 47th National Film Awards. The film also featured the superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the supporting role in Tamil and Hindi films.
