One line Review: Exemplary picturization, Baahubali: The Conclusion is bigger, better and grander than its first instalment.

Positive Points: The film is a magnum opus that showcases the cinematic brilliance of todays’ time. The larger than life sequences and story that keeps the viewers hooked. The movie indeed is a spectacular treat!

Negative Points: A few dragged sequences, additional scenes, song pieces that surge the length of the film.

Plot: The journey begins where it ended in the first part. The film now narrates the tale of Amrendra Baahubali ( Prabhas ). Immediately after Amrendra Baahubali is chosen as the King of Mahismati Kingdom by Rajmata Shivgami Devi, he is sent for a kingdom voyage to understand common man’s problems. While on his tour, Baahubali lands in a small kingdom where he falls in love with Princess Devasena ( Anushka Shetty ). Devasena is a sturdy and beautiful woman who is capable enough to defeat several baddies alone. Baahubali hides his identity from her and presents himself as a commoner. After a while Devasena too starts to develop feelings for our hero.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion Review | Prabhas | Rana Daggubati | Anushka Shetty

Here in Mahismati Kingdom, Bhallal Deva ( Rana Daggubati ) learns the whole situation. To which he makes his mother, Rajmata Shivgami Devi send a marriage proposal with several jewels for Devasena for himself. Devsena however rejects this proposal rudely considering the jewels as arrogance of Mahismati Kingdom. This creates a misunderstanding but, Baahubali manages to win Devsena’s heart irrespective of the entire chaos created by Bhallal Deva.

Shivgami Devi is still burning in the fire of dishonour by Devasena and, the truth prevails in the Kingdom court, that Devasena is willing to marry Baahubali and not Ballal Deva. Rajmata has given a vow to Bhallal Deva which she had to break as Devasena and Baahubali were in love and wanted to marry. Rajmata Shivgami Devi considers it as her disrespect. She declares Bhallal Deva as the King of Mahishmati and Amrendra Baahubali as his Senapati. After this massive step by Rajmata Shivgami Devi, there is a wave of silence in the kingdom.

After a twist in the magnanimous tale, it is finally revealed that “Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali?” The story also unfolds several other mysteries like the slavery of Devasena, the birth of Amrendra’s son and the death of Rajmata Shivgami Devi.

Direction and other Technical Aspects: Director S.S. Rajamouli is one such brilliant filmmaker who managed to keep the curiosity of the audience intact for his film for two long years! The cinematic excellence that Baahubali: The Beginning was, nothing less was expected from its second part. The entire team has taken immense effort to put together this magnum opus and the efforts do not go in vain. The film does have certain dragged scenes and song pieces that extend the length. Baahubali: The Conclusion is a gem in every aspect right from direction, storyline, editing, cinematography among others. The heart wresting war scenes are created using high octane special effects and VFX. The much-needed light moments are also added when Baahubali meets Devasena, to the viewers delight.

There are few breath-taking moments and dialogues that leave you in awe. The movie is held on the strong and able shoulders of the lead star cast who present a commendable job. The dialogues, costumes and crisp editing speaks for itself.

Performances: The film is a tale about Baabubali and who else than Prabhas manages to pull it off in style, grace and elegance. He is strong, fierce but at the same time loving and kind hearted. Prabhas unbelievably defines perfection and does 200% justice to his role. So much so that, it is hard to imagine Baahubali without Prabhas.

Devasena’s character is brilliantly developed. She is one fearless lady who is not afraid to speak for truth and her rights. Performed with sheer brilliance, Anushka Shetty is an apt match for the character. This part reveals her fierce nature and her perseverance for victory that the viewers witnessed in the first part.

Rana Daggubati as Bhallal Deva is even more cruel than he was before. His revengeful plots against Baahubali and the entire Mahismati Kingdom are revealed in this film. He renders a justifiable performance as the villain of this magnum opus.

Ramya Krishnan as Shivgami Devi is supremely impressive. Over all she brings up a powerful act and does just what was expected of her character.

Sathyaraj as Kattappa is a one of a kind performer. He skilfully pulls off all the emotions extremely well. Tamannaah Bhatia has a small role but, she makes her presence felt.

Music: The film exudes some really well composed background sounds. Especially the ones designed for the lead characters!

Final Verdict: Needless to say, if you have watched the Beginning, it is understood that you would want to experience the second part as well! Also, as there are no spoilers in this review, you got to know the answer to the most coveted question, “Why did Kattappa Killed Baahubali?”
