Popular South Indian actress Nayanthara has been approached to play the female lead opposite superstar Kamal Haasan in his forthcoming film Indian 2. The film is a sequel to his 1996 blockbuster Indian. The project was about to mount floors quite earlier. But since Haasan was busy with his entry into politics, it experienced quite a delay. Not just Indian 2, his other films such as Viswaroopam 2 and Sabhash Naidu have also faced delay due to his political career. However, now the actor wants to focus on his pending projects and wrap them up as soon as possible.

The makers of the sequel are considering Nayanthara as the lead actress opposite Kamal Haasan . Like Indian, its sequel will be helmed by Shankar . The director is currently busy finishing works for his ambitious film 2.0 which stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in lead roles. He will start work on Indian 2 soon after the release of 2.0.

If Nayanthara gives her nod to the project, it will be her first association with the superstar.
