Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Balaji Mohan, Maari 2 has gone on floors in Tirunelveli. The film is a sequel to the 2015 gangster comedy film Maari, which starred Dhanush , Kajal Aggarwal , Vijay Yesudas and Robo Shankar in lead roles. The sequel features Premam fame Sai Pallavi, Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas and Kazhugu Kreshna in principal roles. Dhanush , who is producing the film under Wunderbar Films, took to Twitter to announce the commencement of the shooting. He wrote, 'With all your blessings and love #maari2 shoot starts'.

Like Maari, its sequel is also being made on a huge scale. The film will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Besides producing Maari 2, Dhanush is currently busy with his upcoming films Enai Nokki Payum Thotta and Vada Chennai. He is also doing a Hollywood film. The actor-producer is planning his directorial venture by the middle of this year.
