It’s a known fact that Akshay Kumar will be doing a film based on the Battle of Saragarhi. The film is titled ‘ Kesari ’ and it will be made under the banner of Karan Johar ’s Dharma Productions. The year 2017 started with a bang when filmmaker Karan Johar announced the news that he’s co-producing a film with Megastar Salman Khan that will star Akshay Kumar , he took to his Twitter and made the news official, Karan had tweeted, "Supremely excited to coproduce with @BeingSalmanKhan #SKF on a film starring @akshaykumar directed by Anurag Singh...releasing 2018!". Initially, Salman was equally excited about the venture and even he confirmed the same but things didn’t work well between Salman and Karan and he backed out of the project.

As now it is crystal clear that Salman has nothing to do with the film, ‘ Kesari ’, in an interview with a leading daily, he finally spilled the beans on why he backed out of the film. He said, "Karan has his home production and I have mine. He had come to me long back with the project, but he did all the work from casting to everything. I thought just adding my name was not right." Now, ‘ Kesari ’ will be jointly produced by Karan and Akshay and the film is set to release on Holi 2019.
