Even after four years since its release, Vishwaroopam, featuring National award-winning actor Kamal Haasan in the lead role, is still remembered for a string of controversies it quoted before and after hitting screens. It's sequel, Vishwaroopam 2 , was supposed to release in 2014. However, the project faced some financial issues and was put on the backburner by the makers. The latest update on the project is that the shooting of the film has finally resumed in Chennai. The team started working on the film with the same enthusiasm from November 27 onwards.

Speaking about the film, Kamal had earlier said, "In the sequel of Vishwaroopam, you will see many more layers to my character. You just wait and watch. The sequel will be even more volatile. We'd get into my character's antecedents. The highlight of the sequel would be Jaideep Ahlawat."

Earlier, the trailer of the much-anticipated film was about to come out on 7th November, on the occasion of Kamal Haasan 's 63rd birthday. However, it did not release back then. The new trailer and audio launch dates will be announced soon.
