Update on Shiddat, a period drama starring Varun Dhawan & Alia Bhatt!

It’s been quite a while since gossip columns are posting updates of Karan Johar’s in-process film Shiddat, but no one confirmed the news, and so far Varun Dhawan was the only name which was associated with the project. And as per the recent updates on it, Varun Dhawan will be paired once again with Alia Bhatt and the film will be directed by Abhishek Varman, who has previously directed Alia and Arjun Kapoor in romantic genre film 2 States. And more updates as follows!

It is even confirmed by the ace costume designer Manish Malhotra, who mentioned, “I am working on a period film starring Varun and Alia, Sanjay Dutt, Sridevi, Aditya Roy Kapur, so that's a big cast. It will be a period film of a period I feel close to, It is during partition between 1945 to 1947." And if it all went well, Sanjay Dutt and Sridevi will also be cast again after film Gumrah, which was released 25 years ago. With such a powerful star-cast, it would interest to see how the plotline would turn out to be!

Abhishek Varman has also written the story of Shiddat, rather than just directing it! The film would be produced by Dharma Productions in association with Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and it is expected to be released in last quarter of 2018.
