The upcoming Akshay Kumar starrer ' Gabbar Is Back ' was supposed to have Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead. But, now there is a change in the name of the film's leading lady. The role, which was earlier offered to Shraddha will now be played by Shruti Haasan , reportedly.

The producer Shabina Khan confirmed the news update by saying that Shruti Haasan has signed on the dotted line and she will start filming opposite Akshay Kumar in January 2014. After the stalker incident, Shruti's mother Sarika has become more protective about her daughter. A close source said that "Since the stalker incident, Shruti has not been answering phone calls unless it is from close family." So, even if a producer intends to contact Shruti, they either have to call her manager or they have to connect with the actress through her mother Sarika , as per the buzz.
