Sanjay Leela Bhansali finds Bajirao's mother in Tanvi Azmi

Beating number of her contemporary actresses, Tanvi Azmi makes her way to play Bajirao's mother Radhabai in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film 'Bajirao Mastani'.

As per the sources, Tanvi wasn't the original choice for Radhabai's role. Veteran actresses Shabana Azmi, Supriya Pathak and Dimple Kapadia were considered for the role. But Bhansali ruled them out with the following reasons.

According to Bhansali, Shabana Azmi is an intimidating personality and wouldn't suit the soft-notch requirement of the character. Next was Supriya Pathak, since he had already worked with her in 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela', he was not keen in repeating the supporting cast. He rejected Dimple, because she has more of urbane personality to play a historical role.

Therefore, when Bhansali came across Tanvi, he made her undergo the compatibility test with Ranveer Singh to see their mother-son bond. She cleared the test and at last bagged the role of Bajirao's mother Radhabai.
