The multi-talented Samir Soni , who made his directorial debut with My Birthday Song this year, will be soon back to acting. Last seen in 2016’s film, Chalk n Duster, the actor will now play a crucial role in Karan Johar ’s Student Of The Year 2 . While the main star cast of the film is yet to get announced, Samir has been roped in to play the role of a college principal which was played by Rishi Kapoor in the first part.

Talking about it, Samir said to a leading daily, “SOTY 2 is a fresh story, only the franchise is being carried forward. Rishi is the finest actor we have. He did a fabulous job in the first part and people remember him. I am nervous and excited to step into his shoes, although it’s not the same character. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Like Rishi played a gay principal in the original film, will Samir’s character also be the same? To which Samir said, “No, he is not gay, but he has his own quirks. He is not the normal, boring principal. He will make you laugh and smile. It’s a film about students, so there will be a fun element,”

Samir has earlier worked with the SOTY 2 director, Punit Malhotra , in 2010’s film, I Hate Luv Storys , and he’s excited to collaborate with him once again.

Starring Tiger Shroff as the lead, SOTY 2 will hit the theatres on 23rd November 2018.
