The Being Human Foundation is doing some great job by extending its partnership with Marrow Donor Registry India (MDRI) so as to create a world - class registry of marrow donors in India. This is being done for the sake of those patients who have blood-related illnesses such as thalessemia, leukaemia, aplastic anaemia and congenital immunodeficiency states. Marrow Donor Registry India was set up in the year 2008 as an NGO at the Tata Memorial Centre. And it's only motive was to create a registry of donors who would be committed and would voluntary donate marrow to the patients who needed bone marrow transplantation and who were without an HLA- matched donor within their families.

This registration can be functional only when the number of the registration of donors reaches nearly one lakh people. Children are not eligible for such kind of donation however people whose age group falls between 18 to 50 years are mentioned to be eligible for the donation of the required marrow. MDRI and Being Human (with which Salman Khan is associated) have reached out to next generation because they are working with college students and professors so that they could create awareness and the need for a world-class registry in this country (that is in India).

Many colleges are taking part in this holy mission an according to the sources K. J Somaiya Institute of Engineering and IT, Sion, is one of the first colleges to participate in this project. And as a part of their annual college function, Surge'11, carried out a marrow donation drive on their college premises along with 'Marathon' - a 6 km. run showing support for the holy purpose. But it is not enough and the NGOs need more volunteers and donors.

On this matter the spokesperson of Marrow Donor Registry India (MDRI) stated, "We are glad K.J Somaiya has come forward. We hope that this will pave the way for more colleges and their students to come forth and register with MDRI and thus make their contribution towards saving many more lives."

Surge '11 will be held from 3rd March to 5th March 2011. On 23rd February a class to class arrangement had been carried out for the in house college students who had come forward to show their whole hearted support towards the purpose and a huge 335 names were added as registration in a single day. This has made the students to get encouraged who would now to come forward to volunteer and who would now give someone a tomorrow -
