Period movies are the new success mantra for Hindi filmmakers, and that has been adopted by biggie like Yash Raj Films as well. Aditya Chopra ’s YRF, who has been making some of the biggest films in the Hindi film industry for the last couple of decades, has now brought us a period war entertainer, Shamshera . Karan Malhotra , who made his directorial debut with 2012’s Agneepath, will helm this film and it stars Ranbir Kapoor . The actor will be seen as a dacoit and looking at the teaser poster, one can assume that the film is going to be a grand-grand venture. The teaser says, he (Ranbir) is dacoit by his deeds and a free soul by his religion.

YRF revealed the big news on Twitter, captioning, “Presenting #RanbirKapoor in a never seen before avatar in YRF's next action adventure #SHAMSHERA. Directed by @karanmalhotra21 | @ShamsheraMovie”

Talking about the movie, Ranbir Kapoor said to a leading portal, “Shamshera is exactly the film I was looking for. While growing up watching Hindi commercial cinema, I had an image of what a film hero should be doing. Shamshera allows me to do everything that I had imagined and it’s a very exciting project for me. Karan is going to take me completely out of my comfort zone and I’m looking forward to this challenge.”

Ranbir, who is busy with Sanju promotions, will first finish Ayan Mukerji ’s Brahmastra and then start shooting Shamshera .
