2018 is starting with a big box office tussle between two highly anticipated films - Padmavat and Pad Man. While Pad Man had announced its arrival in the Republic Day weekend long ago, the makers of Padmavat decided to release their period film on the same date just a few days ago. With both films being huge in the budget as well as star power, trade pundits are busy analysing which film will bring more audience to theatres. On the other hand, the clash has certainly not gone down well with the makers of Pad Man. R Balki, the director of Pad Man, feels that these kind of clashes within the industry are not good.
R Balki“Our film was supposed to release on Republic Day from the outset. It’s a free country and if people insist on a particular day, nobody can stop them. However, it is silly to clash in a small industry; there are enough dates for everyone. It’s not the wisest thing for films to clash,” Balki told a tabloid.
While Pad Man stars Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in lead roles, Padmavat features Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in principal roles.
