Years ago, world laughed at Alia Bhatt for her IQ. Now, the same girl is garnering praises for her stellar performances in Udta Punjab and Dear Zindagi.
Yesterday, while Alia was promoting her film Badrinath Ki Dulhania, she was asked about her take on feminism. On which, she gave a sensible reply that even majority of the “self-claimed” feminists fail to understand.
The 23-year-old actress said, “Being a feminist is not only limited to girls. Even a man can be a feminist. It is about equality and everyone believes in equality. People usually misunderstand the essence of feminism. It is not about male bashing.” Further added, "I am not saying women are greater than men. I don't believe it is the right way to put it. I just feel there should be similar treatment (for both)."
After proving her point, Alia got back to her character Vaidehi from Badrinath Ki Dulhania and said "I am closer to Vaidehi. She is a feminist and very ambitious. I love that about her and I really connected with that. She is very sensitive but at the same time she is more mature."
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Badrinath Ki Dulhania will be releasing on March 10, tomorrow.
